Strength testing system by INSTRON – model 5969 (50kN)

    The 5969 dual column tabletop strength-testing machine is a high quality construction that guarantees precise work, extraordinary durability and versatility of usage resulting from changing requirements regarding conducted research. It is perfect for research in conditions requiring capacity up to 50 kN. It is based on Instron’s electronic systems for control and data collection of highest efficiency It’s equipped with a standard industry software – the Bluehill® 2 package. The dual column structure ensures better alignment and better rigidity compared to single column systems.

Measurement class: 0,5. Workspace height: 1212 mm. The system is equipped with grips and adaptors for tensile and compression testing of flat and round samples. The device has a digital drive controlling system with feedback from power and movement sensors, as well as a control panel installed on the frame with basic features and the sample protection function. Data acquisition takes place with sample frequency of max. 1 kHz, simultaneously for all measurement channels: strength, deformation and stress. The system is also equipped with test method library – ASTM and ISO, and its open architecture allows operators to program their own tests. Full CE compliance.

ZWICK Z/100 testing machine
    
The laboratory is also equipped with a ZWICK Z/100 testing machine. The machine is designed to statically test tensile stress and compressive strength of materials within the range of ambient temperature and 1200°C. The measurement of sample elongation is ensured by a macro extensometer (ambient temperature), a MAYTEC HT thermal tensometer used with the temperature up to 1500°C, and the crosshead of the machine. The system that controls the analysis, testXpert, provides graphic presentation of results in a coordinate system with any configuration, and elongation can be presented in [mm] or [%].

The MAYTEC resistance furnace, which enables obtaining max sample temperature of 1200°C, has three heating zones, all working independently. The furnace has a free cooling system.

Tests at higher temperatures:

  • MAYTEC resistance furnace, Tmax= 1200°C
  • Heating speed ( < 1000°C max 30°C/min, >1000°C max 15°C/min)

The machine has a control certificate and a certificate of authenticity issued by Zwick Polska- Service.

 Charpy JB-W300A impact testing machine

     The laboratory is also equipped with a Charpy JB- W300A impact testing machine produced by Time Group Inc. The device enables measuring impact resistance of materials in the form of specially prepared samples. The device is adapted to work with the following samples: 10x10x55 mm; 7,5x10x10 mm and 5x10x55 mm, in compliance with the following standards: ASTM E23, ISO 148 -1983, PN-EN 10045-1. It has the possibility of conducting breaking energy tests (150 and 300J). Data processing is conducted with the use of a computer that enables determination of: absorbed energy, impact resistance, minimum, maximum and average energy, as well as standard deviation for a series of measurements.

Notching machine
     Additionally, the laboratory is equipped with a notching machine: type V – 2 mm and Type U – 2 mm. Notch obtained in that way guarantees its full repeatability and identical measurements along the whole width of a sample.

 Freezing chamber

   Another unique machine owned by the laboratory is a freezing chamber that enables freezing samples up to -80°C or even -90°C.
